Recently, Gujing successfully assisted a global automotive-grade customer in solving a core failure problem of mass-produced power inductors. The customer’s original supplier’s standard inductors suffered severe inductance attenuation and magnetic saturation under high current operating conditions. Lacking professional technical debugging capabilities and standardized high-current testing systems, the original supplier failed to optimize and improve the products, which risked delaying the customer’s automotive project progress and failing vehicle-level reliability verification. Finally, the customer turned to Gujing for customized rectification and solution optimization.

This project targets 20KHz series inductors for automotive power circuits, with strict operating condition verification requirements. The original off-the-shelf inductors had unstable inductance consistency under variable DC bias current, unable to adapt to the dynamic current fluctuation scenarios of automotive electronic systems. To completely verify the product’s current resistance performance and solve the saturation defect, Gujing adopted a standardized and rigorous full-current-range test scheme based on IEC62024 high-frequency inductor measurement standards:
The test takes 0A DC bias current as the initial state, with a precise current stepping of 0.5A, continuously loading and testing up to 20A maximum current. The professional test system records the accurate inductance value of the inductor at each current node in real time, draws a complete L-I (inductance-current) characteristic curve, and accurately locates the magnetic saturation threshold and inductance attenuation rule of the original product, providing authentic data support for targeted optimization.

Based on the accurate test data and the customer’s actual automotive circuit load demands, Gujing’s R&D team launched targeted structural optimization. Adopting the 4mm² wire-through-core design recommended for high-current automotive scenarios, the team adjusted and optimized the inductor winding structure and winding turns ratio. The optimized inductor effectively suppresses high-current magnetic saturation, significantly improves inductance stability under full-range bias current, perfectly matches the 20KHz series circuit operating frequency, and fully meets automotive-grade long-term stable operating requirements.
